The Vatican is it's own country, the only country that has walls all the way around it. This is probably to protect their trillions of dollars worth of "gifts" from their clients.

Its ironic because who taught the world the concept of 'us' versus 'them'?

I know, I read the entire quote of what he said. But if Republicans cared about nuisance, or well, facts they wouldn't be Republicans.

In my experience, people with an emotional investment in a matter never really care about the facts. Left or right.

That was a metaphor obviously. It's the meaning behind it that the pope was trying to express.
The bridge represents love
The wall represents hate
An earlier pope tried to tell the world about Hitler. Nobody listened then either.

Trump said the Pope questioned his faith. Not so, the Pope pointed out a trait of a Christian and compared some media-whore of a giant Oompa Loompa to that. From the objective viewpoint of an atheist, I think the Pope is probably the most official expert in the world on what is and is not a Christian. For experts on Donald Trump. I would suggest Willy Wonka maybe.

Implying Donald Trump that wants to build a wall to keep out immigrants from Mexico the term building bridges is between people inviting them into your home, your country, your nation. It would be like someone in the cold asking for food whom is starving and shutting your door on them rather than inviting them into your house where it's warm and giving them food to eat.

Donald Trump even if he is the nominated candidate for Presidency for the Republican Party he will not win. Take this into account about 1/3 of the nation are immigrants from Mexico in fact just about everyone that lives in the United States has ancestry whom were immigrants, do you seriously think any Hispanic Americans will vote for Donald Trump? And of course Pope Francis the leader of the Catholic Church even though Catholics are a minority in the United States they still are the largest Christian denomination within the United States, do you think any Catholics that live in the United States will vote for Donald Trump after what he said about Pope Francis? Donald Trump already lost the Presidency before the race could begin which the Republican Party should hope he is not elected the candidate to run in the Presidency because if he is we will have another Democrat President which of course the options are not any better could you imagine Hilary Clinton as President.
