If your main goal in life is to be financially solid and to not have to worry about things like homelessness and etc., then do some research and find out what fields are in demand where you live, and that pay well. Then figure out which ones might suit you. And get the education and skills needed to get into that field. Don't drift, and don't guess. Do research, and have a plan.
I knew many people who are greatful for thier degrees. There is no way my brother or my husband and I would be where we are without an education.
Yes the student loan debt is a huge problem in the US. My daughter graduated 3 years ago. I knew many of her classmates who have jobs or are going for their Masters degree.
What job do you want? Accountant, teacher, chemist, computer programmer, Many jobs require at least a Bachelor degree.
If you don't go to college, which isn't for everyone, what is your plan?
To be a plumber, electrical, car mechanic, still requires training.
college is the name given to hierarchial education. Thus, it is always
good. Whether one gains from every moment there is another story.
I did.
College isn't for everyone, however, there are some colleges that infuse theory with practice (aka experiential education). These are schools that apply theory taught in the classroom out into the real world, thereby giving students hands-on experiences. If this sounds of interest to you, you should look into the following schools: Prescott College, Sterling College and Green Mountain College, to name a few.
If you apply for financial aid through fafsa.gov., then there's no reason why college can't be affordable. The more you vocalize to a school that you'd like to attend, the more willing they are to work with you in order to devise a financial plan that'll be in your favor.
Also, on average, students with a college degree earn almost a million dollars more in their lifetime.
Hope this helps!
ive talked to and listened to several very successful people and they all have the same outlook - it has more to do with being dynamic when it comes to success than your education and they would hire a dynamic person with no higher education over a dull one with several degrees .. they almost all said that they would have even more money now if they hadnt wasted years of their life in college ..
.. getting a house and setting yourself up debt free wont take long if you apply yourself to the goal .. if you start young you could accomplish this in probably well under 10 years ... if the money you would have spent on college is applied wisely to your life you'll be in great shape ...
College benefits you if you're in it for a certain reason, why are you doing it? Usually the reason is financial gains and thats why over billions of people have college degrees nowadays. One can benefit in this situation by creating something different and learning how to utilize it properly. Results of success are massively different, i'll let you be the judge of that. But what i will say is those college institutions need a good reform, because they offer lots of useless majors with no heed or warning, very low.. cheap tactic. Those telling you to keep your chin up or just do it probably are only telling you what they know and not what they can offer.
I'm recently graduated and still waiting for the call from a local store for my schedule. Try applying for something close, and you can always work your way up from there. And keep your chin up.
Well Gee almost nothing is always "good".
College is what you make of it. If you take out student loans for a worthless degree, you've made bad decisions, and nobody can fix stupid.
College is good but please dont get a worthless degree that wont land you a job.
