The system shown below is released from rest
and moves 136.3 cm in 2.12682 s.
The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2
What is the value of the mass M? Assume
all surfaces are frictionless.
Answer in units of kg.

initial velocity, v₀ = 0
displacement, s = 136.3 cm = 1.363 m
time taken, t = 2.12682 s

s = v₀t + (1/2)at²
1.363 = 0 + (1/2)a(2.12682)²
acceleration, a = 0.6 m/s²

net force, F = Mg = 9.8M N
total mass, m = (M + 3)
acceleration, a = 0.6 m/s²

F = ma
9.8M = (M + 3) × 0.6
9.8M = 0.6M + 1.8
9.2M = 1.8
M = 1.8/9.2
M = 0.20 kg
