Most Atheism effectively boils down:-
The belief that there was nothing.
Nothing happened to the nothing (for no reason).
Nothing exploded (again for no reason we fully understand) into everything and everywhere.
Chunks of everything then magically (we don't know for sure how/why) develop into self-replicating organic bits that eventually evolved into dinosaurs et al.
The rest is history.

Sounds not much weirder than God work. Is God a tall old bearded white dude with a very limited wardrobe? Probably not. But that doesn't mean there isn't a God; in any case....

Poseidon certainly exists. More than two thirds of the planet is covered by oceans. Somebody has to make the tides go up and down. If you ever tried to calculate the amount of energy that is needed to move entire oceans up and down a few feet, you'd notice that it is a full time job even for a god.
