What vegan foods do you recommend?

I'm 15, and I've started thinking about going on a 30-day vegan diet, just to kind of clean my body and feel less tired. I thought my mum and dad were going to laugh at me when I told them, but they said it sounded like a nice idea! So it seems like it's actually happening. My mum was a bit worried though, she told me to research what I should eat to get enough calcium and protein. What do you guys recommend? Any nice recipes? Good, healthy snacks? Good websites? The other problem is food at school. It's free here in the country I live, so you have to tell the school in advance that you need vegetarian food, but I have no idea if there's a chance of getting vegan food... Either i'll sort that out or i'll have to wait until the summer...
But anyway, I really hope i'll actually have a chance of doing this, and if you answer my question, thank you!

An abundance of healthy nutrient-dense foods and delicious recipes are available for a well-rounded whole-foods plant-based vegan diet. Focus on what you can add to your diet. Local farmers markets are best for high quality produce. Organic markets offer a lot, too. Greens, other veggies, fruits, beans, grains, lentils, garlic, onions, herbs, spices.... The options are plenty. Fantastic recipes can be found online and in cookbooks. Pinterest, Yummly, and Google searches are my favourite online resources. Oh She Glows cookbook is a best seller, and there are many many other great ones. Examples I've made: coconut-crusted French toast with chocolate syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, bananas, blueberries, and strawberries. Avocado toast dressed with micro greens, radishes, and balsamic vinegar. Homemade black bean vegetable soup over wild rice. Vegan nachos. Spinach cranberry pecan salad with raspberry Vinagrette. Roasted Rosemary potatoes with avocado garlic aioli. On and on. Enjoy!

A well-rounded whole-food plant-based vegan diet is healthy. Stay away from highly processed foods. Study all you can, including the works of Drs. T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn, Neal Barnard, Michael Greger, Garth Davis, Melanie Joy, etc.

Veganism includes diet/foods/nutrients as well as non-use of other animal products, such as leather, etc., and avoidance of products tested on animals. The idea is to live in the best interest of the health and well-being of human animals, non-human animals, and the planet. Do the least harm.

I'm vegan for life on a moral bases. Eating is easy.
A typical day may look like this:
Kroger Toasted Flakes w/ Strawberries, light almond milk (I used skim milk before I went vegan, so switching to almond milk was no problem. It may taste a little unusual, but after the first week you won't notice a thing.)
Apple
PB&J on 15g bread
Orange
White rice (more iron than some brown rice)
A myriad of vegetables
Tofurky Roast ('meat'), carrots, potatoes.
I also have two protein shakes. I only use these because I work out. You may not require these.

Most restaurants have multiple vegan options now. Also, I never feel bloated after a meal. It's great.

Maybe the best thing you could do is join the "thirty day vegan challenge" online.
Its a step by step approach that is more than interesting and entirely painless. It costs about $20. Maybe your parents can spring for it. Maybe they will join in and do it with you!
If that doesn't sound good - how about the book? you can get a used paperback edition at Amazon for $2.56!

Next best thing to do is to go online and look up a "vegan starter kit". there are a bunch of them for free online. And/or go to the library and pick up a book. There are so many, not sure which one I can recommend. but i really like the Vegan's Daily Companion. Its a pretty good coffee table book. its also a book you can leave by your bedside and read one or two pages each night before bed.

My other advice it NOT to try to become vegan overnight. Take a few weeks. or months. First give up red meat, then white meat, then fish then eggs then dairy.

Actually, dairy is super easy to give up. Try a different plant milk each week till you find one you like. My advice, start with chocolate flavored soy milk. I bet you will love it. I'm a grown up and I buy at least a quart a week. I also get some plain soy milk, too. but also try the vanilla flavored, its a like cow's milk. but better.

So you might want to start with dairy. The only problem with dairy is they add milk and/or eggs to all kinds of baked good - so its a little hard to avoid.

Last piece of advice. Don't worry too much about the details or going 100% vegan. At least not right away. I like to tell novice vegans to think of it as a journey without a destination. So, just enjoy the ride!

Going on a vegan diet for 30 days will not "cleanse your body" nor will it make you feel less tired.

Is dependent on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fresh fruit to me. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to lower back on sugar and lose weight vegetables

fruits and vegetables when unripe has starches as carbohydrates and converts into fructose when it ripens.

green or brown lentils with white long grained steamed rice served with vegetables is always a good standby and provides a well balanced meal. it is also good to eat cold and therefore as a snack.

This is an easy one but just so you know 30 days is not going to do anything. If you really want to cleanse your body shoot for like 6 months to a year and also try to go gluten free lots of toxins now in the grain industry with the way it has been modified.
Fruits, veggies, and seeds and nuts. the best way is raw once you cook foods you destroy all the beneficial nutrients and enzymes if you want a great start to your day look at green smoothies. Rice is a decent grain however and is a good source of carbs for energy.
Removing other things like coffee, pop, and anything with caffeine or other energy drinks etc is vital.
Also remember if your wanting to do the vegan thing no animal products of any kind not even most margarine as it contains whey. Vegans do not eat anything that comes from an animal and also many vegans do not wear anything that comes from an animal either.

I write a raw vegan blog maybe check it out http://rawlivinguy.blogspot.ca
