Did Turbo Tax recently made filing your taxes free?

I'm asking because I did research on it and people who used Turbo Tax in the past said that it's not free.

TT online is free for simple returns only. If ou have to file a state return, that's not free. None of this is new.

US Federal return has been free for me for the last 4-5 years or more. They have charged to do my state return. I haven't done mine this year yet.

TurboTax sells the software needed to do fairly complex tax returns. If you have a very simple return (such as a Federal Form 1040EZ or 1040A), you can get it from TurboTax for free. Basically, if you just have a salary and a bit of interest from bank accounts and the like, you can do that for free.

The basic version of TT has always been free.

It depends on what your tax situation is. For most people, it is free.

The simply efile is free if you make under 35k. Tax act is free if you make under 65k.

of course, in fact most of the major companies offer free efiling but there are limitations
