What is this? The gray thing. It was on top of the concrete and under aluminum threshold.?

It looks like flashing of some sort. You said under the threshold so most likely it was suppose to control any water that got under.

If you mean the two little gray things upleft-ish, LL pillbugs, or "rollie-pollies", harmless little things that live in damp places. They're not even bugs, but an ancient crustacean, complete with gills. Prod one a little, and it rolls up like a tiny armadillo, thus the nickname. Get the area dry, they're gone. Life is fascinating.
