I went to go see star wars the force awakens last night and I loved it but now I want to watch the rest of them. I never really showed interest before but now it intrigued me. What # movie is the force awakens and how many were there before this one? I've heard you watch them in different orders for ex.3,1,6,5 etc. Thanks

They released in this order:

- Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
- Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
- Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi
- Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
- Star Wars Episode II: The Attack of the Clones
- Star Wars Episode II: The Revenge of the Sith
- Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

But of course, if you want to watch the story from the beginning, then start with Episode I and just watch all the way through.

I would advise skipping Episodes I, II, and III though, as they are terrible films. The original Star Wars trilogy (IV, V, and VI) and the new film (VII) are the good ones.

Chronological order would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Order they came out is 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. You could skip 1 all together because it sucks.
