She said she was okay with me getting a piercing. I studied up what stuff was safer and all, and when I explained that the Gun has more risks, she got very defensive and angry, and said "If you want your ears pierced, I'm NOT getting you your ears pierced with a needle." And shes normally really chill but that comment just pissed her off.
Are there any hidden risks to needles or something that would make her so opposed to them?
Mom won't let me get a piercing with a needle?

Nope, no hidden risks. It's definitely not safe to get pierced with a gun and definitely is safe to get pierced with a hollow needle by a reputable professional piercer.
