Does it sound like my dog has been poisoned?

She's a seven year old jack russell. Sometimes she breaks into my neighbour's yard and I fear he may have poisoned her.
She's usually very bubbly and lively, but today she looks extremely depressed and timid. There is more drool than usual coming out of her mouth. She has no appetite and is extra thirsty. She also looks way thinner than yesterday. She was fine yesterday.

I can't believe that you are on the computer asking this question rather than sitting in a vets office so she can be seen. Do you understand that every minute counts??? GET HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY!!!!

And YES- it sounds like she ate rat poison. It dehydrates from the inside out. Her organs will shut down and she will bleed to death internally.

If you suspect your dog has been poisoned - then an immediate trip to the vet is necessary.

Keep your dog in your own yard and you won't have to worry about it getting into poison that others have left out for rodents and other pests.

Possible. How would we know??? We are not vets and even if we were we couldnt do the necessary physical exam or tests over the net to confirm it (The symtoms you describe could be all sdorts of things). oNE THING ISD FOR SURE SHE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT WELL AND NEEEDS TO SEE A VET!!

He may have. Get her to the vet. right now. Say what you suspect. If it was rat poison there is a cure. If he got into anti-freeze there isn't. You absolutely must find a way to keep your dog on your property.

Your responsibility to constantly supervise and securely contain your dog.

Your neighbor has every right to dispatch the dog in anyway he wishes and to sue you for any damages the dog may have caused.

If you're concerned about her health then take it to a vet instead of allow her to suffer, which is a felony punishable by fines/jail time.

Yes. So get her to the vet today. And stop the dog from leaving your property. Its YOUR responsibility to do so and its YOUR fault if your dog gets hurt or poisoned because you did not prevent the dog from leaving your property.

No excuses.
