questions about starting a prayer journal?

I want to start keeping a prayer journal and I have a few questions. Let's say I have 10 items in my mind, 5 are short term prayers such as praying for someone's health, exam, study, etc. And there are some long term prayers such as praying for my parents to believe in God and my future spouse, etc.

I know I should write them all down in day 1. but what about day 2? Should I repeat my list? or just write extra prayer request? If i do not have anything new, should I wait until I have something to add to my list? This may not be a daily journal then.

Perhaps, I should ask if a prayer journal is a daily one or a per request kind of journal?

Let me know how yours work and/or what should I do. Thank you.

I don't have a prayer journal but I do have specific prayers for specific things written down to bring to remembrance. You can alway add to the prayers you selected. I usually repeat the outcome I want and then thank the Lord. Ex. I prayed to be a grandmother and then prayed for a grandaughter. I would repeat this each time I saw my list. Always thank God with expectation for each petition.

if you have 5-10 items on a prayer list, you should be most likely praying for all of them ever day - for the short term ones until that events passes or is resolved

There is no need to carry over existing journal entries, as long as you review and update earlier entries on a daily basis. Answers to previous prayers should be recorded on the entry for the day the prayer was answered. Then you should go back to the original entry and note which day the prayer was answered. For example, if you prayed on day 1 that you needed help with algebra and the prayer was answered on day 112, you would record on the entry for day 112 that your prayer was answered and record on the entry for day 1 that your prayer was answered on day 112.

If, on day 1, you prayed for a person’s health and that person dies on day 4. You should note on day 4’s entry that the person died and also note on day 1 that your prayer failed to produce the expected results because the person died on day 4.

You can do it however you'd like. It might be simpler if you just write each prayer down once, with the date you first started praying about it, and then leave room for ayou date when it's answered or for additional notes.

Also keep in mind that even though it's private, other people could potentially pick it up and read it. Don't write anything that would seriously compromise your privacy or the privacy of the people you're praying for.

Prayer tends to align our wills with God's will, which is always good. "Let go and let God" is good advice. In other words, praying for a particular change is both dependent upon what is Good, and also on how the individuals agree with God's will. People have the God-given ability to make choices.

So, if you are loving God, honoring at least the offices of your earthly parents, and loving them in Godly fashion, that can help prayer re them receiving God.
