I'm 18 and love classic rock (stones, Zeppelin, etc). Is that wierd that I really don't like any "modern music"?

It's not just the music it's everything else surrounding them and their personas

It's not weird, I'm 15 and I despise modern music. It's all so autotuned, fake, and most modern music performers can't even write a song without the help of 20 "professional" music writers. So don't feel like it's wrong to not like modern music.

I'll just leave this here...

No and you aren't special because you listen to Led Zeppelin etc. There are a bunch of 18 year olds who do.

No worries, this question has been asked hundreds of times on here so there's no way you're alone.

No. I don't like modern Mainstream music either.

You are gifted, and you are unique. But you're not alone for sure, btw I know people that does not enjoy modern music. I'm 19, so I'm not talking about old people. Keep on being you, and doing things and liking things because society does does not apply to that.

No, not weird. Many young people are turning towards older music because it is better. There is some good music being produced but it is neither played on the radio nor paid much attention in mass media. Check out some of these modern bands that play Rock music, not modern Pop. Aeon Zen, Crippled Black Phoenix, Kamelot, Las Cruces, Fuzz.

No, it's not weird, what about people who like classical music? some of that was written over 200 years ago!

Trust me you are not alone

In music, you get to like what you like and it's not weird. Well, it is a little weird if nobody has EVER liked what you like... but you can't really say that about the Rolling Stones or Led Zeplelin, can you?

No, you are very lucky to recognise quality plus there's a massive back-log of amazing sounds for you to discover.
Surely, you like some contemporary younger bands.

No way kid,you have got taste. Back then music had meaning, creativity and was the middle finger at your parents and the establishment. You were just born too late. I was there and it was beautiful.

I just turned seventeen and I listen to 50s music more than anything. I also love the 70s, 80s and 60s, but mostly 50s!! GO ELVIS GO
2016-01-25 3:13 pm
No, not at all. You just have betterm taste in music than most young people these days. I'm not saying that because I'm old (54) and biased either. Music has been a major part of my life since I was a kid and I've got a pretty decent sense of what sucks and what doesn't.

A lot of today's music is just plain bad, with a few exceptions of course. So much of it is just manufactured, corporate "fluff" or vapid electronic dance music. The 90s had much better music than today in my opinion.

Just keep doing what you're doing and don't follow the crowd. There's been a lot of great music from all genres over the last 7 decades.

No way. I'm 17 and practically everyone I know likes the Rolling Stones. Plus new music just sucks. There are no good musicians. Heck I wouldn't even call anyone today a musician, they're just pop stars or wannabes.
2016-01-25 2:18 am
No, it isn't. It matters about what kind of music you were surrounded with. I like every genre of music; classical, country, classic rock, metal, punk, pop, indie, gangster rap, regular rap, SCREAMO, even EDM. It's because my parents, older cousins, aunts and uncles would play different styles of music.
2016-01-25 1:14 am
That is your personal taste.
2016-01-24 11:03 pm
you may have a old soul, with good taste, the bands now mostly have weak songs crappy lyrics with cheesey repititions, very sad cool beans, ambient, jazz and blues is also way cool check it out your on the right path
2016-01-24 3:53 pm
no it just means that you know that most modern music is garbage
2016-01-24 7:45 am
No, it just means you like the sound of a different generation to the current one. Everyone has their preferences and it's been like that for decades. I really like classic rock and mid 2000s pop rock but I won't hate on people who like Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift anymore than people who like Stevie Nicks or Mariah Carey.
2016-01-24 6:42 am
yes
2016-01-23 8:20 pm
Don't question what you like.
2016-01-23 3:24 pm
very normal
2016-01-23 3:18 pm
Everyone's tastes are what makes them who they are. Music, food, art, whatever. Never be ashamed of what you like! That's what sets you a league ahead of pretentious posers who pretend to like whatever everyone else considers cool.
2016-01-23 3:16 pm
I guess no one's ever told you this before, but it's okay not to conform.
