It's "fine line". They mean that love can turn to hate and vice versa and there is not really much separating the two emotions.

They are both intense emotions....one can tip over into the other. Example ..... you love someone very much but find they are cheating on you...intense love turns to intense hate....Yes thin line.

Love and hate are both extreme emotions. Love particularly is vulnerable to a sense of betrayal and can turn to hate. The division between the two often is unclear. Literature, psychology and soap opera thrive on love/hate relationships. Machiavelli in The Prince said that it is better for a ruler to be feared than loved, for love can turn to hatred and create vengeful enemies.

Jesus Christ is the truth. Jesus loves you. Get a kj version bible and believe. Read Romans chapter 5 and 8. Read 1 John chapter 4.
"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God."- the Word of God.

many people believe that if you love someone and they break your heart you are likely to hate them because of it. if you don't have intense feelings for someone in the first place, they're unlikely to invoke any strong feelings.

A thin line reference a small difference. Neither love or hate is more powerful over the other.

Most of the time the saying refers to how love and hate can be intertwined. Like you love the girl you go to bed with but hate the woman you wake up with.

We can only have one or the other at any time.

unfortunately, hate is more powerful
