Many. As a tree lover, it's heart breaking. Go to Google Earth and look for yourself. In the USA we try very hard to re-plant every tree we cut..and after a forest fire go back after a year or so and re-plant what was lost...not all countries 'care'...
I think you can pretty well say that, if the country has forests, they have deforestation. It just happens for different reasons. The US is heavily deforested compared to what it was a few centuries ago, but deforestation is still happening due to urban sprawl, which is less important in more pristinely forested countries that are in the development stage that the US was 100-200 years ago. Just because we don't clear as much land as we used to doesn't mean we aren't still doing it. The main reason is that our populations continue to grow, and we don't live or farm in forests, so the forests have to make room for us.
