Racism is believing one race is innately inferior to another or hating another person because of their race.

Any race of person can be racist or be a victim of racism. Racism exists in people's minds, not their race.

Racist statements may only be opinions, never facts or observations. Why? Because racism may only exist in opinions. A fact cannot be racist because you cannot prove the inferiority of a race. And hate is of course an opinion as well.

So no, there isn't racism in the entertainment industry, at least in the USA. Just because entertainment shows mostly white people doesn't mean it's racist. These are privately owned companies who are trying to make money. They pick actors and whoever else who they think is going to make them the most money. Most Americans are white, and people tend to favor seeing their own people over others, so of course most people in entertainment are white. That's not racism, just natural and common sense. Not to mention, worldwide, white actors are "in demand" more than other actors because of the dominance/prominence of Western/white media in many parts of the world.

I think people are confusing subconscious favoritism/preference/bias as racism when it's not.

And if you look at the top songs to become popular in the USA, you will see black and black-mixed people all over it. They significantly impact the mainstream American music scene every single year. Racism would be NOT LISTENING to those black artists because of their race, but obviously that is not the case.

I think people love to play the race card way too much. Just because two things correlate does NOT mean one was the cause of the other. That's very simple to understand, yet many people don't get it.

I think that, just like all other industries, there are multitudes of different people with different characteristics and different biases at all sorts of different points of power and threshold crossings. In order to navigate through such industries, which are all industries, a person needs to know the right people, since you're only going to be able to pass through a small amount of those bias barricades on your own characteristical merit. The rest need to be bypassed.
But I suppose it would be folly to assume that there is a specific "white" bias. That assumption would certainly lead to the destitution of countless white failures in any industry.

Why wouldn't it be? It's everywhere else. I mean its pretty easy to see. Black people started off in films playing maids and servants, the first Black American to win an Oscar was for a role as a 'mammy'. Today this plays out as well, from Hollywood's White-washing to giving minorities stereotypical roles. It's pretty noticeable when you analyze it.

Its not that surprising to me and I really beat myself up that I can't muster any energy towards it. I guess I'm becoming desensitized as a minority.

I read somewhere that the Oscar voters are like 94% White and 77% male. After that you're like, 'of course'.

Jada is just upset because Will did not get nominated. If they were racist Jada, would not have got the part in Gotham, there are also leads in How to get away with murder, Empire, etc. With Oscars, it is the performance that is judged..maybe, there were no strong performances to get nominated. If Will had been selected for the sake of having a black artist, who would they have kicked out ?.

Yes, especially in film and TV.

Yes.

I wouldn't call it racism. I'm black and I think America has made plenty effort to prove we are equals. I think it's an oversight and people shouldn't get so angry and over dramatic. They are trying. I think we give ourselves a bad image when we call those things racist. It's an oversight and should be corrected. That's all.

no there is NO racism at all.

look all all the successful actors like will smith and al roker

if those who were boycotting the OSCARS show us their list for who wins this years, it is probably the 'black-list of actors and movies.
for a fair judgement, show us your list.
of course, everyone who watches movies has one, but racial-stereotyping gets a lot more done then asking people to decide whether those on that list are as good as the academy's choices, doesn't it?

there is nothing fair about black-racism, they do not have diversity -- at all --in their shows or movies. it is a laugh in your face ....

hell yes

Racism and bigotry are everyplace

Yup!!! I've noticed long ago. People are just now beginning to pick up on it now that black actors/actresses are boycotting the awards, but that's just the little stuff. The portrayal of blacks, as well as many other minority ethic groups in film and entertainment troubling, particularly black women. Leftist Hollywood elitist feel they've met their quota of black representation in the industry by letting a handful succeed. Even their liberal white guilt hasn't forced them to change this trend because their agenda is to marginalize the black voice and image by portraying us a minstrels for white audiences amusement. Melvin Van Peebles, does a great job of explaining it all in the film "Classified X".

Yeah. There is racism everywhere.
2016-01-22 2:56 pm
No doubt. What is happening in Hollywood lately has been shameful!
2016-01-22 1:25 am
Absolutely, yes. As in all other facets of society.
2016-01-22 1:14 am
There is some bias.
2016-01-22 12:43 am
Casting Emma Stone as Hawaiian Asian, definitely
2016-01-21 11:44 pm
I have no reason to expect that industry to be exempt from racism.
參考: What an odd idea. What about that industry makes it invulnerable? Nothing.
2016-01-21 11:36 pm
Yes, I think there definitely is.

Look what they did in China. They removed black people from the ad.http://edition.cnn.com/2015/12/08/asia/star-wars-china-racist-poster/

If you think things are bad in the US...
2016-01-23 8:32 pm
Yes
2016-01-22 5:32 pm
Why wouldn't there be. It's all over the world. That's not going to change in the future due to ignorant people.
2016-01-22 3:20 am
who cares. Will smith and that crap he's mairred to are quite galling. It's not enough that they are rich and famous and have better lives than any of us could dream of, they also want to be celebrated for it. Blacks only make up 17% of the population and they are over represented in movies and on tv anyway. black women always play the "pround independant black woman" who through not fault of her own is in a crappy situation. The men always play either the angry black man with a chip on his shoulder or in will smiths case the arrogant black man.
2016-01-22 12:34 am
The real racism is films like 12 years a slave that constantly portray blacks as victims
2016-01-24 4:25 am
Yes. Racism against whites. You will see it more and more as time goes on, not because the white population will be decreasing, but because of people in positions of power in media, entertainment, government and globalists.
