What's your reaction to the break-up of One Direction?

It's like a repeat of April 10, 1970 aka the day The Beatles broke up, way before my time. We all love Harry, Liam, Niall, Louis, and former member Zayn. Are you shocked about the break-up? Please don't use profanity.

You just told me. First time I heard.

Not familiar with their songs, but I'm sure a lot of girls will cry about it today, and not even remember them a year from now.

Doesn't matter to me. I didn't know they broke up. I don't listen to them anyway.

Your comparing the break up of the Beatles to One Direction. That is one hell of a comparison. I guess it's on the same length but I think it's safe to assume the Beatles where a bigger story. I am indifferent I guess I mean I am not going to stomp all over them but I don't really listen to them either.

I second Hurricain. It doesn't mean anything to me, especially with something way more tragic (David Bowie's death) having happened recently. I will, however, get annoyed to death by all of the fangirls at my school who, presumably, will not shut up about it.

Also, please don't compare One Direction to The Beatles.

In no way it's the same as when The Beatles disbanded... that event was RELEVANT to music.
Honestly, I never cared for any boy band.

I can care less because I'm not a huge fan of One Direction

It's no different to me than when Hanson or The Jonas Brothers exited the mainstream.

I believe Billboard's source, not US Weekly's. US Weekly was the only one with a supposedly source that told them 1D is breaking up (my guess is the source was Zayn). After a few hours of the story sitting there, all of the other papers starting reporting the same thing, based only on US Weekly's story.

Billboard later said

'Fans can breathe a sigh of relief... probably. An online report alleging One Direction's current hiatus is actually a permanent break isn't true.

A source close to the band tells Billboard "nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths."'

However, I would not be surprised if it is true that they did not, at this time, sign another One Direction recording contract. All that would do is restrict what they can do with their solo hiatus time. To heck with that. I think they want to do whatever they want to do, and not be restricted by someone else's opinion, connections, desire for a cut of the money or a claim to what they create. I think they probably want to be untethered and free to write songs, record, perform or record with other artists on other labels, act, do whatever the heck they want. And then after the hiatus, if there is still a demand for 1D, they could sign a new 1D contract. My opinion.

I dont really care but im hearing its permanent now rather then temporary. I hope they do come back for the actual fans even if its just a quick reunion and 1 more farewell (greatest hits?) album or just to say now its permanent instead of giving them false hope.
