Listen to 'Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'.
He's been making music at the top level for 50 years, and will be remembered long after most of the music of the last 20 years.

If you have never heard of David Bowie it just tells people that you are very young . He was popular in the 80's . So most older people would know of him more .

You are probably just younger than his fans. He is one of the more famous and recognizable musicians to me, but I'm in my fifties. There are popular singers / bands now that I don't know of.

No, a lot of people 10 years old and under have no real reason to know of him. Teens may not be aware either

Probably. Gee, you think someone who was old enough to have a teenage child (because OF COURSE you weren't trolling all those times) would know who he is.

ps (I know who the Big Bopper is, even though he died years before I was born and wasn't nearly as popular as David Bowie.)

Yes. It's not something to brag about. Rectify it.

I'm sure millions of people in India, in Peruvian jungles, Eskimos, etc that don't listen to Western pop/rock music have no idea who Bowie, Justin Beiber, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Backstreet boys, etc are.

I was telling this guy from Bangladesh something about Arnold Swartzenegger, and he had no idea who I was talking about, despite dozens of movies and being the governer of California, etc.

Famous people are complete nobodies in many parts of the world.
