I'm petrified of needles and injections, please help!?

I need help conquering my fear of needles and injections for my polio shots.
They are on Thursday, and just the thought of them is stopping my sleeping.

I've told my parents that I'm scared but they keep saying to get over it.
I'm also scared I'm going to embarrass myself in front of everyone at school, and I'm really freaking out.

The thought is worse than the actual event when it comes to needles. After all, an injection only lasts a second or so. I don't care for them either. Tell whoever is doing the injection how you feel, and they can often modify how they do things so it's easier to take. Talk while they're doing it. Taking your mind off it makes a difference.

First don't look, look up relaxation techniques, ask them to give a few seconds to relax before the injection.

The more relaxed you are, the less it will hurt.
