Why do so many people hate emos?

ah.. well emo doesn't *obviously* have to do with appearance, it has to do with music. so its not about how one looks (although that's one factor that may piss ppl off), but those who "hate" emos claim so cuz of the *false* stereotypes that they hopelessly believe -- as you can see many examples of such from most of those who answered *this* Q -- they think emos are all about being depressed, whiny, sissies, self-harming, + other ignorant stereotypical "behavior".

emo is a music genre (+ a developed fashion style), but primarily a genre of music (hence one who just dresses emo doesn't make them "emo"). I personally find nothing wrong with someone who is emo (one who tends to listen generally to emotive hardcore music), + often times perhaps they will prefer to dress close to an alternative/indie style, but that's it. emos don't complain about life nor self-harm (for the reason of "being emo"), nor do they act depressed. certainly, there may be some emos who happen to have serious depression or may cut for a reason other than "cuz its an emo thing", + those are serious matters + nothing to make fun of, but those things solely have nothing to do with emo.

the poseurs, however, are the ones who think emo = depression, cutting, whining, etc. all those false stereotypes... they're a big factor for why others think emo is stupid/have hatred towards them, + the reason emos are given a "bad image" to the public, unfortunately. but some ppl are just too apathetic to research a bit on what emo actually is + believe in the false stereotypical crap that poseurs are showing off.

No it doesn't have to do with appearance. I don't hate emos, but anything that has self pity as part of its culture creates useless humans.

they are whiny teenagers

Because nobody likes depressed people walking around being stupid.

They whine and complain about their situation (which, in most cases isn't that bad) instead of doing something about it.

LOL, its far from being just about appearance. Cutting yourself and acting all sad n **** like a child is a turn off.

They want attention and they are always looking for reasons to pout and fit in with their other equally as retarded friends.

I don't care about their beliefs or anything but I think emos are so fuc**** sexy. White girls with a dark side make me so horny. fap fap fap.
