Why does my dog like to sleep in laundry baskets?

It's a contained space so he feels secure. The clothes smell like his people, which makes him feel secure. The clothes are comfortable. Has he got his own bed, something he can snuggle into? Many dogs like the kind of dog bed which has sides

Your dog is simply looking for security. Your laundry has your smell on it. If your dog sees you as being his or her safe place then he or she most likely will curl up in the laundry or go straight to you. My miniature pinscher does the same thing.

Your dog is looking soooo cute. Let him sleep there if he likes it.

Soft cushions.
Surrounds you like a den would.
Snuggle up to the cushions like you would snuggle up to momma.
And ALSO that dirty laundry will have the scent of his "pack" (you and your family on it) .. his source of safety and security and emotional comfort.

Whenever we have to board our dog (because we are going on a trip), my husband always leaves his bathrobe with the dog, so the dog will have the scent of hubbie nearby to comfort him.

If your dog doesn't have a crate then this is his place of security. It smells like you, it's comfortable and it makes him feel safe. My dog has a crate that she has learned to love and will go in it willingly because she knows when she is in there she is safe, comfy and it's basically her own "room". I heard that dogs used to be in caves so it's like their own cave

You know how dogs will make a circle before laying down? Well this kinda the same thing it makes them feel safe. Or he just likes your clothing a bed. He probably doesnt like his bed if he has one

My cat likes to sleep in the dirty clothes laundry basket. I guess they like the smell.

My Doxie does this all the time! It is a source of comfort & protection, not to mention super comfy...the clothes have your scent which is comforting & the enclosed basket makes them feel safe.

cuz they are small and cozy like kennels, plus they smell like their owners, nothing to worry about :P
