is every lottery game just a big scam?

The lottery is a gambling game with some of the worst odds in the world. It is a tax on stupidity.

The lottery is not a scam, but the chances of winning are so small that I do not believe it is worth playing. If people want to get rich, they should do it the old fashioned way: Get out there, work hard and earn it.

It's not a scam, because they tell you exactly how bad the odds are. It'd only be a scam if they pay out less overall than they say they do.

That's not to say that it's an bad idea to play, or that its purpose isn't just to make money.

You see we pay taxes on our income so all the lottery funds are already paid for with our prepaid taxed money from those who buy the tickets to accumulate the jackpot in the first place. Now the government wants to tax that money again by keeping some of the winnings for themselves. The lottery is formulated so the government gets money off the backs of people who just want to win money regardless of the low odds.

yes....on wennesday, I plan to scam you out of 440 million dollars and win the powerball...PDQ says the house edge for the lottery company is 50%.......if this was a casino where the house edge is 5% on roulette you can expect to lose % of your money...if you make a thousand 5 dollar bets you can expect to lose 50 dollars.....with a powerball, a little different cuz in reality the 2 dollar ticket only costs you a buck...EDIT...under no-nuts tim theory mcdonalds is a scam....they designed to seperate you from your money, legally.....

They rack up billions and billions from the Lottery every year so why would it need to be rigged? they make more then the movie industry and Entertainment industry combined! think about that for a second.....plus whatever anyone wins they take tax out so why in the world would it be a scam? or rigged?
