Is unasked for advice rude?

I just wondered what other people think of this:in my opinion giving advice that s not asked for is rude...I personally think that if someone is not asking for my opinion or complains about something to me I dont give them any advice. I personally feel insulted when someone gives me advice I didn t ask for but in my life I did get a lot of bullying disguised as good advice so maybe I am oversensitive...

It all depends on what the advice is, how it is delivered, and to/from whom it is given.

Mary: You know, George, it might be a good idea to check yourself before leaving the restroom... you're dragging some extra... um... paper."

That may be acceptable and not rude, whereas this...

Mary: You know, George, your hair is a mess! How about using a comb now and then?"

See what I mean?

Would you think it was rude if you liked the advice they gave you, for example, if you asked someone else something but you didn't like their answer but another person standing by gave an answer you did like.
