A keyboard is a sampled piano. The keys are mapped to corresponding piano sound samples in the memory, which are played back when the keys are depressed.

The way I see it a keyboard is digital - you plug it into a wall. A piano is an actual instrument with strings and large chambers for acoustics.

The piano is a type of keyboard instrument. The organ is another, as is the harpsichord.
