why won't my boards show on pinterest?

I've had a few problems with pinterest, for a while it wasn't showing my own boards or the ones I was following. Now it's showing my boards that I pin to, but only 20 out of the 24 I am following. Does anyone know why?

You can keep secret some of the boards that you pin or follow. Maybe some of them are private boards? Or maybe you are posting boards that are your friends boards and they have it set so that only their friends (i.e. you) can see the board but when you pin it, others can't see it because they are not friends on pinterest with the person who originally posted the board.
