How come liberals cannot defend Obama without referencing his biracial background?

My liberal friends tell me that we cannot treat Black People in the same way as White People.
We should make excuses for Blacks and not expect as much from them.
They tell me that Blacks need programs like Affirmative Action in order to be equal to whites.
