If I make a little hut with shells and a hot glue gun will it kill my betta fish?

Use aquarium-safe silicon glue instead. You can buy it in better fish stores.

I wouldn t recommend it. I don t know if it would kill your fish, but I think that the glue would release chemicals into the water that could potentially be harmful. You should stick with things that are made to be in aquariums.

Super glue is actually aquarium safe, I've used it several times, but I don't believe hot glue is.

However, I do NOT suggest using shells in your tank. Shells are mostly made out of calcium, meaning they can change the chemistry of your water and make it hard and alkaline, which could not be good for your fish. I've heard of people using shavings of shale, which won't affect your water instead.

Not if you let the hut cool before you put it in the tank.
Don't us any shells thathave paint, dye, or coatings on them.

Yes, none of those are safe to put in water that aquarium fish live in.
