Assuming you're in the UK (since you mention an MOT), if you're using your own car for a test, it must:

be taxed and properly insured for you to use for a driving test (check with your insurance company)
be roadworthy and have a current MOT if it needs one
be checked and fixed if it has a known safety fault
have a seatbelt for the examiner
have an interior rear-view mirror for the examiner (these are available from most motor stores)
have a proper passenger head restraint (not a slip-on type)
be a smoke-free environment (you can’t smoke in the vehicle just before or during the test)
have 4 wheels
be able to reach at least 62mph
have a speedometer measuring speed in mph
have no warning lights showing - for example, the airbag warning light
have L-plates (‘L’ or ‘D’ plates in Wales) on the front and rear
have a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of no more than 3,500 kilograms

You don't technically need to bring your insurance and MOT documents with you, but it will delay the start of the test while they examiner contacts the DVLA and your insurance company to verify the details. If there are other tests booked after you, they may not waste time checking this and simply refuse to provide the test.

To be on the safe side take original documents of - your driving licence, your theory test pass certificate, a certificate of insurance for the car with you as a named driver and the MOT certificate. You'll also need a licensed and insured driver to supervise you while driving to the test centre (and home again in case you don't pass).

Yes, they check for registration and insurance as well as perform a quick safety inspection before the test. If it fails this inspection, you can't take the test. They don't care if it's not your car.

Insurance and registration should be in the car with you whenever you drive anyway. You can get a citation for not having proof of insurance or registration if you get pulled over and can't produce them.

You do not need to prove it is your car, but insurance documents and a valid MOT would be good to bring too

That is one of the first things they will ask to see.

Let's look at this for a minute. You aren't allowed to drive any vehicle, owned by anyone at any time, unless you carry proof of valid insurance with you. Everyone is kind of expected to know that. Everyone is also expected to know that just one illegal act is an automatic fail on the licensing exam. You have to get through the whole test without committing a single traffic violation of any kind in order to pass.

Driving without proof of valid insurance is a chargeable violation. Do you really think they'll allow you to continue the test if you don't have proof that your vehicle is insured? Think hard.

With your working knowledge of the laws, are you sure you're ready for this exam? Just asking, no reason.

Depends where you are...

Different places have different rules.

Some you need to be insured, and carry proof of it.
Some you just need to be insured.
Other countries, insurance is actually optional.

A little bit of advice, Taking your own car has advantages and disadvantages, the main disadvantage is your examiner will make you go round the entire car before he gets in to check its compliant. You will need to provide all documents relating to the car, he may or may not read them but he will want to see you have them ALL.

Then the advantages once your passed CALL YOUR INSURANCE FROM THE TEST SITE tell them the change, guess what your insurance will go up :D yea im not joking about that either, your less risk as a supervised learner than a brand new unsupervised driver.

Take P plates with you, your going to pass, make sure you know where the oil etc is and check all the levels etc. The examiner will make you check as part of your test, but also he will want to know the brakes work lol. So you know one of the tests :D brake fluid levels :D
