A simple harmonic oscillator has an amplitude of 3.50 cm and a maximum speed of 23 cm/s. What is its speed when the displacement is 1.75 cm?

1.75 cm is ½ of the amplitude.
The spring energy there is ¼ of the maximum.
Therefore the KE there is 3/4 of the maximum.
Therefore the velocity is √(3/4) of the maximum, or
v = 23cm/s * √0.75 = 19.9 cm/s
