And let

Suppose that det(A) = 2. Use Cramer's rule to solve the above system for the variable y.

= 4*[ 3*(-2) ] - (-2)*[ 2*(-2) - (-3)*5 ]
= - 24 + 2*11
= - 2

y
= Δy / det(A)
= - 2 / 2
= - 1

Ans: y = - 1
