You can easily make crème fraîche épaisse (same as crème fraîche) using recipes such as:

You need to leave the mixture at 70 degrees (room temp.) for 8 to 24 hours for the bacteria to do their job!
They should be available in supermarkets. Google "creme fraiche image" and you'll see numerous brands.
