Speech: Why book is better than a movie?

1. When you read a book, you can re-create situations, people, images in your mind, and every person creates them in a different way. Reading stimulates fantasy more than a movie, which is more passive.

2. The book has much more details, descriptions, characters' thoughts, that a movie can't have because of its necessary limited time. The movie producers are forced to cut many things when creating a movie from a book.

3. Reading allows you to learn new words and expressions and to enrich your vocabulary.

Books are better than the movie because a lot can get lost in trying to make a work more "commercial". What Hollywood views as important may not be what the author feels is important, thus missing the actual point of the story. There are entire story lines that are cut due to time constraints that build the story and help the reader grow.

From another standpoint, reading a book is better than the movie as it adds more to your skills. You're still taking in the same story but you're stretching your brain muscles and developing your comprehension in the process.

Books are better because they can be far more detailed than movies. It can take tremendous time, energy and resources to create very simple events for filming, but the writer can create them in seconds. Also, books can get inside a character's mind and describe his thoughts and feelings, but movies can usually only show the outside of a person.
