basically, it was the same ol tired plot line.............of, expanding one's intelligence level until you evolve into "pure Energy" . I think Star Trek did this plot back in the 60's.

The film was kinda alright , up until the stupid ending. Like , why did she turn into a creeping black inky liquid?

and the stupid villian took like f***** forver to pull the trigger...........why didn't he just blow her brains out when he had the chance...........??? What the hell was he waiting for? For her to recognize his presence , where she could have done anything to him with her mental powers? Just pull the f****** trigger!

then she learned *everything* there was to learn, and downloaded it on a flashdrive ?

yeah, and why on earth would you give these primitive monkeys *all * the info in the world.

and speaking of monkeys........what the hell was the point of going back to seeing that first ape person. ? why didn't she go foward in time to see how it all ends?

I understood it as a depiction of her "becoming" the entire universe: past, present, and future. She made the flash drive because she wanted to communicate everything she had learned (or as much of it as possible) to Morgan Freeman and the other scientists.

Wow @ best answer! its obvious the guy wouldn't wait for the actual amount of time that we saw! all of those actions were probably done within a second or less. but we wont be able to see all of those things in a second.

With that level of consciousness she must've known she'd be done before he could pull the trigger so she concentrated over more important things at the hand.

at that stage, i think she'd be able to create a flash drive of her required amount of memory possibly just with those giant computers in that room, considering she could be cable of accessing memories of all machines that ever existed in the world, it was nothing.

Also, at no point it was indicated that she gave all her information to that primitive human, at least not the way you're interpreting it. (its possible that she gave him all her knowledge but not in a way that it could be used all at once, instead it will probably take millions of centuries and lives to have it all in one place.)

what the hell was the point of going back to seeing that first ape person?
well it makes perfect sense it explains evolution, apparently she started it. And about travelling the future, future and past are nothing but mere human-made concepts to make sense of things around us, to put it simple, my future only exists as long as i'm alive, she did indicate when and how she's going to die at one point so she knew her future.

All of those events were placed in a way that explains the existence of the world with giving her possibly the status of God or whatever you'd call the 'creator of everything' and 'everything' itself, since the possibility of existence of even higher consciousness than her, is out of the context of this movie.

Sorry for my poor english :P needles to say it isn't my native language.

I doubt that even the writers could explain the ending of Lucy. It is one of the dumbest films I've ever heard of.
