when they do that fake, sickly looking , spray-on Orange tan......you have to wear eye protection. that explains it.

It's a combination of an artificial tan and makeup.
I've wondered once or twice why he doesn't have his make up person do his lids, but I recently discovered that he is mysophobic (germophobic) so maybe it's a bit too intimate for him.
