Do i need a gtx 970?

To me , for future proof gaming and now since some games require high end gpu to run them smoothly and max out with good fps i would get a good high end gpu , yes a lot of the cheaper gpu like the gtx 750 ti,950 or the amd r9 260 x or the 270x are good for gaming still running high end gaming a good high end gpu will do for the long run

I built a gaming PC with a GTX-960 to save $100 compared to the 970. And I regret it.

NVidia has just dropped the prices for the holidays. Go for the 970.

It all depends on the games you want to play. Personally, I have a GTX 960 Strix, and I've been able to run all of my games on Very High - Ultra settings. However, from reviews I've read, they say that the 970 is really all the graphics you'd ever need for games, and you probably wouldn't have to upgrade your card for a long time if you went with the 70. Spend what you want to get spend what you want to get now. The future will be full of newer, more powerful cards anyway.

Really depends on the games you play. Generally a GTX 960 would be good enough.
