Why won't my Hauppauge Live 2 capture device work with Windows Live Movie Maker?

I want to capture my old 8mm camcorder videos and store them as digital files on a hard drive. It's analog video, but when I go into Windows Live Movie Maker and click "Import from Device," I'm not able to see the camcorder video on my PC. Is there another spoftware program I can use to record the captured video? I'm using a Win7 PC and using the Hauppauge USB Live-2 capture device with an old SONY Handycam 8mm camcorder.

Only thing I can think is the signal out of Sony is not recognized by Hauppauge. Video is a pain because there is no true standard. I use Pinnacle with their USB capture module playing from a Toshiba VCR and I have decent luck with it. It might be worth trying a commercial place that does it. Or go to Hauppauge and see what they say. Maybe you haven't set the software to correct standards, double check. Here is a link for a pinnacle but they hauppage shouldn't be that much different.
