Hate is too strong a word. I would say most adults despise Nihilism, but they don't hate it. They have just grown out of it.
1. Nietzsche went nuts and his sister and brother-in-law rewrite his works as the opposite of what he intended them to be. Nihilism was very popular (although Nietzsche himself condemned it) so they rewrote him as a nihilist. This is the version of Nietzsche popular with adolescents the world over.
2. Nihilism is an adolescent philosophy. It is powered by the strong desire to deny that the powerful are powerful and our the center of power in the new young creature. By the time people are 18 or 21 they realize they are not the "new young creature" anymore.
