d+q=44, so d=44-q

25q+10d=830 using d=44-q from above gives us:

25q+440-10q=830

15q+440=830

15q=390

q=26

d=44-q=44-26=18

So she has 26 quarters and 18 dimes.

let q be the number of quarters, and d be the number of dimes
(q+d) = 44
(0.25)*q + (0.10)*d = 8.3

q=44-d
(0.25)(44-d) +(0.1)*d = 8.3
11-0.25d+0.1d=8.3
11-0.15d=8.3
11-8.3=0.15d
2.7/0.15=d
d=18
q=44-18=26

q+d=44, d=44-q, 25q+10d=830, 25q+10(44-q)=830, 25q+440-10q=830, 15q+440=830, 15q=390, q=26, 26+d=44, 26+18=44, 25(26)+10(18)=830, 650+180=830, 830=830. 26 quarters and 18 dimes.

Suppose A has d dimes worth 10d cents and (44-d) quarters worth 25(44-d)
cents. Now total value = 830 cents, ie., 10d + 25(44-d) = 830, ie., 1100 -830 = 15d, ie., d = 54/3 = 18. Therefore A has 18 dimes and 26 quarters.
