Why do the Brits not cook anymore? All I've ever seen are stories of how they're terrified of a kitchen and cannot cook so they order out.?

Yes we DO cook. All you're seeing is the sob stories of people who never learned or can't be bothered. Increasing working hours are causing the complaint "I don't have the time" and the highest sales of ready meals in Europe, but that certainly doesn't apply to me and many others.

Ever heard of Delia Smith? She is well known for cookery shows that teach what you can do at home now that so many children don't learn to cook from their mothers as they always used to, and when she recommends a new ingredient, shops sell out of it. So don't tell ME we don't cook.

Ever seen The Great British Baking Show? Huge numbers of Americans either can't cook or aren't any good at it, too.

Rubbish, the supermarkets are full of fresh produce,
the fresh produce is then cooked at home.

If you watched UK TV you would see dozens of cookery shows. Very few order prepared food in. Those that do are mostly students who don't know how to cook as mummy did it all for them.

How extraordinary! I can't think where you're hearing these stories. I don't know anyone who can't cook well, and although it may be convenient to buy the occasional delicious curried dish from our local Indian restaurant, that's all most of us do, perhaps about once in three months. We will sometimes have a meal in a restaurant on a special occasion, but it may interest you to know that many of us have never even been to a McDonald's. Our children grow up eating good, home-cooked food and learning how to make it, too.

Troll.

That is another case of the minority giving the majority a bad name, or someone with a wooden spoon stirring up trouble.
Why else would the supermarkets, markets and other food outlets be full of fresh and basic food. Perhaps you think the customers take it to the local takeaways for them to process.

Well Penny your wrong. While working in our office in London, I did a little travelling, the amount of Brits at the markets and buying fresh vegetables, fruits, also meat. Tells me they do cook and eat well, it's not all pork pies and fish and chips.

Actually, two o he best roast dinners I had in a private home was in London, and the other, was in one of the outer suburbs of Sydney Australia. At both locations a variety of vegetables was also served.
