How long do you have to have a learner's permit in Florida to get your license?

I'm almost 16 and have had my permit almost a year now. The website says you need to have it a year but a friend said its only 6 months. Plus school said that you could take them after 6 months at one time but I don't know if they do that. I would like to get my license right when I turn 16. Can I?

Florida law requires permit holders to carry their permit of one full calendar year before they will have license eligibility.

Intermediate License (16 and 17 year old) - To earn an operator's license, you must be at least 16 years old AND have held a learner's license for at least one year without any traffic convictions.

Let's look at this for a minute. You checked the DMV's own website, and found their answer right on the screen. Your friend says the DMV is wrong, and that he knows the real answer.

Who, in your opinion, is the more reliable source? It's okay, you can say it, we already know.

It's another case of a misinformed friend. I would put mt faith in what the DMV website says, not your friend. Your friend doesn't issue drivers licenses, the DMV does.

It's all right there in English.

I would think the website would be the accurate source. The drivers handbook, which you obviously studied hard to get that permit, also states how long you have to hold it.

I would believe what they say on their website.
