Any country can try anything it wants. Doesn't mean it is going to succeed. Failures have always far out numbered successes. It took Thomas Edison over a 1000 tries to come up with a working light bulb. And they are still being tinkered with and changed.

People can put on a big show with lots of fireworks and tricks but in the end no one can predict the future. There is no predicting what form future tech will take. I was grown before personal computers came around. Nobody predicted squat. Big boxes with flashing lights yes. I pads and smart phones not so much. More like talking into your watch, they called them wrist communicators which I ain't really seeing yet. They were supposed to be voice activated and while we are on the subject where are all the flying cars, phaser guns and robot maids?

One lone man or woman walking through the street. Vines and shrubs spilling fourth from the windows of skyscrapers. Under his or her feet, grass is growing through the cracks. Tress are beginning to taka root. "How beautiful" they think, "if only there was someone left to share it with me." They take another deep breath of the now clean and fresh air, and continue their tour of the empty city. One lone human in a vast and empty world.

Actually, the future is happening now. Places such as Hamburg-Germany and Masdar-United Arab Emirates are currently trying to reduce the impact on the environment. They are building solar panel buildings, instead of driving they encourage taking the public transportation. There are such thing as "bubble cars" meaning individual subways on a invisible tracks. (One person leaves the bubble car then the next person gets on it) . Also to encourage biking, there are as many bike lanes as approx 217 miles.
The way they build is a special design where it's built as a walking distance- eliminating the need for cars. The buildings are designed to create shade for the people underneath if everything will be walking distance. Especially Masdar where it's hot and a desert

If you want to know more, you can always Google it or watch videos on how to improve the environment with the growing population.

Read "Cities in Flight," about a future in which cities' economic and industrial bases determine where in the known universe the entire city goes to ply its trade. So Detroit might fly to a planet where they desperately need cars, for instance.

Historic examples of "Eco-cities" include the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and Macchu Picchu. They
were actually TERRACES not "hanging". Elsewhere China, the Philippines and Siam / Kampuchea used
terraced rice paddies.

An Eco-city simply includes "green space" as part of HIGH LARGE Buildings instead of relying on
Importing outside agricultural crops;l they SUSTAIN themselves locally. LOOK AT NYC; Greedy
people srive to make enough money to "buy a house in the Hamptons!". The Hamptons are on
Long Island; so are Brooklyn and Queens. NYC's Best Course is to turn Long Island BACK INTO
the City's FARM. They have already turned Staten Island into the City's LANDFILL; now they have
TO PAY other places to accept their Municipal Garbage or ship it out to sea on Barges and DUMP IT.
Not very "Eco" at all.
