What do you do if you don t have a good relationship with the members of your family?

This is a tough one because I never really shared my opinion. I''ve lost a lot of personal connections because of the way I choose to interact with my family. There was a point where they were very strong, amazing and passionate people. I suppose I expected too much for them to face their challenges with adversity. They simply let a few things ruin their lives to this very day. I (for a lack of a better term) treat 2 of them like ghosts. Sure I see them and I interact but they aren't the same people. I limit my affection and words as well cause hugging doesn't feel normal anymore.
It sounds horribly I admit, but I have to let go of my past notion of who they were.It just ends up making me angry and if I dwell on it then I use that notion as a way to hurt two people who can barely function as it is. I try to encourage them and interact comfortably as a friend and fellow traveler in this life. Only you can do whats right for you and sometimes a situation simply is what it is.

I compensate by doing stuff that satisfies my senses. I exercise, dance, paint, write and take classes whenever possible. I like to focus my energy, otherwise I tend to suffer from anxiety. Stay true to your passions no matter who looks down on them.

I would try to interact with them further. Ask if they want to watch a movie together, see a play, play some games ect. anything to just raise general interaction should help. Then again though, it also really depends on the situation, sometimes people are going through hard times and just need to muscle through it before they have time for others. :/

You don't do anything. Never stop loving anyone in your family but some members of your family you are going to have to love from a distance. We can't choose our family members but we can choose how we interact with them. Whatever you do, never hold hate in your heart for family.

I dunno, I just live with it, but in the future when I "make" my own family lawl, I will make sure we all have a good relationship ..that's what i want
