faint gas smell?

i have been smelling a very faint gas smell. I ts coming from outside and i dont smell it inside the house out side. It's not that detecable anymore but im still kinda worried. my dad is resisting to call the gas company. should i be concerned

A constant odor means the gas line is leaking; pressure is constant there. Since it's a "weak" odor
it's being affected by air flow. It could be a crack or clog in a sewer line, not necessarily Yours. Gas Lines
are specifically "boiled egg" smell. If what you smell is different Sewer gas is more likely.

If you are smelling the odorant (mercaptan) that is added to natural gas for the purpose of being able to smell the stuff if there is a leak (natural gas is odorless without the odorant), I would contact the gas company. They would prefer to check things out and find nothing wrong, than to have a serious accident occur.

Dad...!!!!! Passing gas..AGAIN!!!! Good one Dad. Yah...for sh*ts and giggles call the gas company and tell them 'HE' has a leak...lol

If the smell has gone away you should be OK. If it returns or persists, then walk around outside to find where the smell is strongest. If it is near the gas meter, then you do need to call the gas company.
