All I'm hearing from Carson supporters is that he's a "nice guy" and a "brilliant doctor" and a "man of God." I'm not denying any of that. He seems genuinely nice, I understand that his medical career was phenomenal, and he does seem to have strong religious beliefs, but why should we elect him?
Carson doesn't have any political experience. Can you imagine your refrigerator breaking down and the company sends out somebody that's never touched a refrigerator to fix it? Basically, with candidates like Trump, Carson, and Fiorina, all we're doing is voting for their policies. They haven't passed legislation or anything like that.
Thoughts?
Why not. Obama was elected simply because he is black. I fail to see the issue.
What exactly were obongo's lifetime accomplishments? What are Hillary's?
Political experience really isn't all that valuable. It doesn't entail any skills or expertise one couldn't get as a lobbyist, lawyer, business owner, or actor.
I tend to agree with you except that I am unwilling to concede as much as you do about Dr. Carson's positive traits. Instead of coming across as a "nice guy," he comes across to me as a passive-aggressive personality.
I don't even concede his brilliance. I assume that he was a good surgeon but I think people are too willing to assume that successful doctors are intellectually gifted. I have known good and even renowned surgeons and the one thing they all possess are big egos. Some are, indeed, gifted intellectually. But, most are simply like a good mechanic. A brain surgeon like Dr. Carson knows which blood vessels enter and exit the brain. He knows all of the parts of the brain and something about how those parts function. And, he knows where to cut and is steady enough to make efficient cuts and repairs. For all of that, we should be thankful. But, none of that makes him brilliant.
In fact, as you point out, the fact that he knows nothing about how government works and even where its metaphorical blood vessels and parts are located but still thinks he should be president makes him the opposite of brilliant.
I could make a similar analysis of Trump, Fiorina and other outsiders who are also unqualified to be president.
No, and he is not a nice guy, he is a theocrat and an authoritarian.
Or to get a Nobel Prize, just for being black?
Yes obama has shown us that someone without experience is not a good idea but he couldnt be worse.
I like him, he makes sense, but I fail to see the relevence of his experience as a surgeon to the job of being President.
If you are going to support a complete outsider at least Trump's experience as a billionaire businessman should give him an idea of how to improve the economy.
No, nice guys do not make good presidents. The last truly nice, good, decent man we had as President was Jimmy Carter and although I admire the man, his presidency left a lot to be desired.
When my fridge died, I unplugged it and got on youtube and fixed it myself. I bet Carson could do this also.
career politicians have ran this country into the ground. they have become disconnected with very people they were elected to represent. time to take a different course. couldnt really get any worse could it?
Not in my opinion.
Look, I like Carson. I think he's a smart guy and is a great spokesman for Conservatism. But his lack of any executive or government experience is scary. He simply doesn't have any experience at running a large organization or how government works.
Whether you like or hate Trump, at least he has significant executive experience, and he's had his share of dealings with the government and knows how to get things done.
Ben Carson runs for Senate and he's got my vote. Not for President though.
You can teach a monkey to show up & vote in Congress. They are SUPPOSED to be representing the people that elected them in there. Instead it's 3 martini lunches, pounding down hot dogs with Jerry Jones and FREE Platinum health care paid by well, U know who?
Career politicians are getting old, literally & figuratively.
So what grand political experience does Hillary or Barney have? Clinton was the worst secretary of state this century and I never heard of Barney until he decided to throw his rhetoric in to the ring.
During Tuesday night’s debate, Republican presidential frontrunner Ben Carson — who has admitted there are many policies he doesn’t understand — proved how little he knows about foreign policy. Carson outlined his incoherent plan to defeat the Islamic State:
“Putting the special ops people in there is better than not having them there because they — that’s why they’re called special ops. They’re actually able to guide some of the other things that we’re doing there, and what we have to recognize is that Putin is trying to really spread his influence throughout the Middle East.
This is going to be his base and we have to oppose him there and in an effective way. We also must recognize it’s a very complex place. You know the Chinese are there as well as the Russians, and you have all kinds of factions there. What we’ve been doing so far is very ineffective.
But we can’t give up ground right there. But we have to look at this on a much more global scale. We’re talking about global jihadists, and their desire is to destroy us and to destroy our way of life. So we have to be saying, how do we make them look like losers? That’s the way they’re able to gather a lot of influence, and I think in order to make them look like losers, we have to destroy their caliphate. And you look for the easiest place to do that. It would be in Iraq, outside of Anbar. In Iraq there’s a big energy field. Take that from them, take all of that land from them. We could do that, i believe, fairly easily, I’ve learned from talking to several generals, and you move on from there, but you have to continue to face them because our goal is not to contain them but to destroy them before they destroy us.”
In my opinion ABSOLUTELY NOT. Infact most everything he says does'nt make any cents. I find this person's thinking has very little to do with our nations needs. We cant live in the past he's been talking about. We must think of the future for our children. Mike

He hammered his mama, stabbed a guy and threw rocks at others, truly, a saint.
corporatism runs America and any president that falls off that wagon ends up like JFK
You voted for Obama and all he ever did before was agitator. Oh he was in the Senate for a minute but he really didn't work at it hard enough to represent his state. That is what they are suppose to do. He has less real life success that Carson even now.
What legislation did Obama pass? What legislation did Hillary pass? Don't give them a free pass simply because they have a D next to their name.
No Contard deserves to be President.
