Me and a friend got into a discussion about a certain Physics problem that he thought was right but I didn't so I need to know the actual answer for tomorrow, please help me and thank you in advance

A baseball player is dashing toward home plate with a speed of 4.4 m/s when she decides to hit the dirt. She slides for 1.4 s , just reaching the plate as she stops (safe, of course).

1. What is her acceleration? (Assume that her running direction is the positive direction.)

2. How far does she slide?

acceleration a = ΔV/Δt = (0-4.4)/(1.4-0) = -3.143 m/sec^2
range x = (Vfin^2-Vin^2)/2a = (0-(4.4^2))/-6.286 = 3.080 m

Assuming the acceleration is constant, it is -4.4/1.4m/s^2 = -3.14m/s^2.

she slides (4.4m/s(1.4s) - (3.14/2)m/s^2(1.4s)^2) = 3.08m
