It shouldn't say "Update". It should say "Upgrade". Apple gets more Microsoftish each year, adopting wrong terms. Your current OS version is fully updated. Open the App Store on the Dock to upgrade to "El Capitan" (OS 10.11). If for some reason, you don't care for OS 10.11, call 1-800-myapple and ask for a download code for "Yosemite" (OS 10.10).

Here are the classic definitions...

"update" = improve the current OS version. For example, if the current OS were 10.7.2, you could update to 10.7.5.

"upgrade" = install a full, new OS version. For example, if you had OS 10.7.5, you might upgrade to 10.8. Until recent years, an upgrade was a purchase, not free. All updates were free.

Other ways terms get used incorrectly...

"USB" = a port, not a drive. Then there is USB drive, properly referred.
"download" = copy files from another computer, not install an app.
"computer" and "laptop" = any brand, not just non-Apple brands, although Apple uses the term "notebook" for a battery-able portable computer.
"CPU" = the main processor of a computer, not a desktop box.
"close" = remove from the screen, such as for a window or dialog box, not quit. Adobe confuses thousands of folks daily by telling them to "Close Safari", when they actually mean "Quit Safari".
"PC"(upper case) = IBM Personal Computer clone, not "any non-main-frame computer". If there were a two letter code for any small computer including Mac and Spark, it might be "p.c."
"mouse" = a pointing-clicking device attached by a cord or wirelessly, not the cursor. IOW, not "My mouse is not seen on the screen," but "My cursor is not seen."
