"Halloween" is the night of October 31 when children dress up as ghosts, witches, monsters, etc., and go to houses to ask for candy. It was believed in the past that on that day dead people appeared from their graves. It is especially celebrated in the US, Canada and Britain.

The name "Halloween" is derived from "Allhallow-even" meaning 'Eve of All Saints'. It used to be the last night of the year in the old Celtic calendar, where it was called 'Old Year's Night', a night for witches.

Halloween started out as an almost christian festival called all hallows where people remembered and honoured the dead. When it went to America, however, it gradually became a chance for shops to up prices and sell more. That idea went round the world, creating Halloween.

it is something stupid christian people came up with just like thanksgiving. I give thanks to god everyday for what good i have. i dont need a special day for it. And the irony is they feed themselves on thanksgiving instead of giving to the poor. As far as holloween goes, it was the night before All Saints Day which is a Catholic day to honor the saints and pray for the souls in purgatory which is where Halloween's connection to death comes form. As usual , the christian followers decided to make it into a money business by adding horror and candy to it just like they made a mockery of christmas by making it all about shopping
