I think it's nicer setting up the dinner table for all.

It would depend on how many people. If everyone can't sit at the main table, then buffet style. Some people have thanksgiving parties with family AND friends so there's more people than can be accommodated at the table so buffet is best so people can dine in their cliques

that would greatly depend on how good your family home cooked meal is and if everyone gets along. if no one knows how to cook, id recommend going out, also going out tends to make argumentative people behave better.

Last thanksgiving we did family style, there were about 8-10 of us. Christmas however we did buffet style, there were 15 or so of us. Depends on how much table space you have and how many guests.

Family style unless it's a particularly big group

Both. My family sits at the table while we eat buffet style.

In most cases Family style , but if you have a bunch go with the buffet.

Both. Sit at the table doing family style while the food is set up buffet style.

Buffet style is my preference, just makes things go faster and smoother rather than everyone at a table passing and reaching

If there are a lot of people, I would set the food on an island where people can choose and eat whatever they favor. If there are 7 people or less, the family-style would be more practical on Thanksgiving

I personally like them both but my family does family style "pass it around". It works good but if you think about it, buffet is great because you can take as much you want "pressure free" without trying to hold a heavy platter or bowl and scoop food onto your plate while being watched by hungry relatives anxious for their turn.

If everyone is at a table, then family style. If there are too many people to sit at a table (like at a Thanksgiving party), then buffet style.

It's nice no matter how you set it up, because you get to eat.

both; give them what they want....children should be helped, if having a buffet, only bring out small pots or serving trays at a time...so nothing gets too cold or ruined, 3 pan warmers work well, and 4 qt crock pots on low/warm for gravy and potatos

Thanksgiving is having everyone over at once be it family and friends. I prefer family sit down which I favor the most but stop bys are always welcome. Grab a plate and fill it up we'll squeeze you in right here.

i would have it family style for the main meal, then maybe at supper time or even the next day, i'd set up a cold buffet meal, with salad + one or two sweet dishes, maybe a trifle + a traybake.
