How do you "nuke" a test tube?

I need sterile test tubes for a project and my teacher said the closest I could get to making them sterile is by washing them, boiling them/ or nuking them. I am not quite sure what she means with nuking them, does she mean placing them in the microwave for a certain amount of time? And if she does, does anyone know how much time I should leave them in for? Thanks!

Yes she means putting them into the microwave. 10 to 20 seconds of so should do it.

I would simply pour boiling water in and over them!! set them in their rack and pour boiling water in them so it runs over, then place a sterile towel over them so you can flip the entire rack upside down. so they can dry without being touched. This is easiest!

If your test tube rack is safe to put into the microwave, then put the test tubes in upside down, place into microwave and cook on high about 5 minutes! Let cool naturally.

Test tubes are fragile. Be careful.
