Okay hypothetically lets say you moved into a town that was prospering and happy. the town never knew sadness and the people only experienced joy. But, you found out that the town was only this way because in a cellar of a house a person was being beaten, starved, and neglected to keep the town this way. Everyone in the town knows the person is being beaten and your job is to fix the problem with out angering the town.
How would you solve this problem?

This is a typical Utilitarian question but the answer is simple . The person in the cellar is covered by Natural Law .The right not to be imprisoned and harmed . The utilitarian idea of the greatest good for the greatest number is ethically unsound The towns people are evil and worthy of no ones support

I would reject the town, and destroy it.

My job is what I choose.
