Avoid it if at all possible. It's major abdominal surgery. Giving birth vaginally means your recovery time is pretty much zero. But after a c-section you are laid up for awhile. Some women can't even pick up their babies or get out of bed without assistance for awhile. So a c-section should only be for emergencies.

It's a major surgery and the recovery time is long. It took me about two weeks to be able to walk around well.
